Nausea In Pregnancy: Study Reveals That It Protects The Fetus

Nausea in pregnancy: study reveals that it protects the fetus

Perhaps some women carry out their pregnancy without discomfort, but most suffer from nausea at least. According to recent studies, this malaise has a precise explanation and purpose. Apparently, pregnancy nausea is a reflection of the body’s protecting the fetus. Yup! That’s right; maybe it won’t be a great consolation, but still it’s better than nothing!

For many pregnant women, mornings are unbearable. Most ailments occur during the early hours of the day, but nature has thought of everything. According to various studies, vomiting, nausea, stomach acid and all the other ailments typical of pregnancy help prevent miscarriages.

It is certainly good news to know that everything that happens to a pregnant woman is for the sake of her baby. As expected, if the same happens to most pregnant women, it is because it is part of the process. In the past there was talk of this possibility, but today it has been confirmed.

Nausea in pregnancy: how does it protect the fetus?

Scholars from the National Institutes of Health, NIH, in the United States, confirm through a survey that pregnant women suffer from nausea and vomiting when they are healthy. To confirm this theory, the specialists analyzed about 800 pregnancies, in the phase close to conception.

Pregnant woman vomiting

Of this group of women, 188 have had a miscarriage, meaning their pregnancy has not come to an end. By the time they entered the eighth week, more than 57% of the mothers felt nauseous, while 26% also had vomiting. Women who felt unwell had a 75% chance of success compared to those who later lost their babies.

In this sense, in the first eight weeks of pregnancy, when the malaise is greater, so are the risks. There is a time limit for estimating that the pregnancy will go on, which roughly coincides with the period during which the woman vomits.

According to the data collected, the scientists came to the conclusion that during the first trimester the whole organism goes through a process of adaptation. For example, possible toxins and / or food pathogens must not reach the very fragile fetus. Consequently, the mother’s body expels everything that could be harmful, in order to protect the embryo.

For this reason, if the mother does not experience a refusal of food or does not eliminate it completely, perhaps it allows the excess passage of toxins. Nausea in pregnancy, and with it vomiting, reflects the body’s ability to distinguish positive from negative substances.

Possible progress

The human body is perfect, which is why we are sometimes surprised by seeing what it is capable of doing. Feeling unwell during pregnancy is normal, it happens to almost all women. However, such malaise indicates a positive situation. For example, it shows us that our body is alert to any new situation. Now we also know that it puts itself in “mom” mode from the first days.

Woman experiencing the typical ailments of pregnancy

Apparently, the main symptoms of pregnancy arise because the system is trying to block any attack on the developing fetus. Nature wants us to reproduce, which is why our body behaves in a certain way. In fact, miscarriages occur due to a problem during the process.

In previous research, scientists had tried to confirm this hypothesis. In other words, it was already thought that it was possible. However, no relevant information could be obtained. For a long time it was based only on the testimonies of women, who if they did not experience very critical episodes, perhaps they did not remember having had nausea on certain days.

This study, on the other hand, made it possible to analyze the register drawn up by every woman since she knew she was pregnant. After the eighth week, the mothers continued to be monitored monthly. It was soon realized that the women who experienced less nausea in pregnancy, as well as the other typical symptoms, were the same ones who later lost their babies.

Although annoying, the symptoms caused by pregnancy, according to these studies, are positive for the baby. So rest assured, you are simply in “mom” mode!
