Having a child is a unique experience. The birth of a child, however, in addition to being wonderful, also brings with it new situations such as changing the diaper or choosing the ideal cradle in which to let the little one sleep. To help you cope with all of this, we have prepared a small instruction manual for new parents.

This is a collection of tips on basic issues, to be read before the baby arrives. Read it when you are immersed in the preparations for the birth. It will help you get ready to face the various challenges involved in caring for your first child.

1. Diaper change

It’s no secret that babies need to be changed often. Some of them have very delicate skin and need to be changed as soon as they get wet. Otherwise the skin may become irritated or red. Others, on the other hand, may wait to be changed before or after the feed.

However, in case of poop, it  is recommended to change the diaper as soon as possible. The goal is always to prevent rashes.

2. Wash and bathe the baby

To wash your baby  we advise you to choose a time when he is awake and peaceful. Also make sure that the room in which you will wash it is warm and make sure you have everything you need ready.

The essential thing in these moments is to have at hand a container of warm water, a cotton towel, a new diaper and, if necessary, some clean clothes.

An instruction manual to read before your baby arrives will help you to face this new challenge better prepared.

3. Trim your nails

When it comes to cutting your baby’s nails, you have several options. If you use scissors, make sure the lower blade is positioned under the nail.

In this case, the child must remain calm.  You can cut his nails while he sleeps or with the help of another person who holds the baby’s fingers firmly.

We give you some advice. After the bath your nails will be softer and it will be easier for you to cut them.  If you happen to inadvertently pinch your baby’s skin, bandage the wound with sterile gauze so that it stops bleeding.

“You don’t raise heroes, you raise children. And if you treat them as children, even if only in your eyes, they will become heroes. ”

4. Choice of cot

The fourth piece of advice that we would like to include in this instruction manual for new parents is the choice of the crib. This doesn’t have to have much to keep the baby safe. The key thing is that the mattress is firm, uniform and flush with the cradle. You must also equip yourself with a sheet of the right size.

The chimes and rides cot must remain out of the reach of small. Do not use wires of any kind to hang toys from the crib as they can cause strangulation.

Be careful that the crib is not near any window. You could run the risk that the child could fall or get hurt with the rope of the blinds or curtains.

5. High chairs to eat

The choice of high chair is important to prevent babies from falling down. We recommend that you follow these tips if you want to make a good choice.

  • Look for a high chair with a wide base.
  • Securely secure the baby in the high chair.
  • Make sure it is suitable for his weight and height.
  • Do not let the older brothers cling to the high chair, as they could overturn it.

6. Stroller

Going out for a walk and getting some fresh air is fun for both parents and children. When buying the stroller, please consider the following aspects:

  • Choose a sturdy stroller with a wide base.
  • Make sure it has easy-to-use brakes.
  • In case it has a storage box, this must be placed in the back.

7. Games

Finally, before choosing toys for the child, you must keep in mind that those  containing small parts can cause suffocation. There are devices to check if the dimensions are adequate. For example, rattles, soft stuffed toys or stuffed animals are a good choice for children under one year of age.

Also, you need to keep the baby away from the magnets. In fact, they can be very dangerous if swallowed or inhaled. The same is true for deflated balloons which can cause choking in a child under the age of 8.

We hope that this instruction manual for new parents will help you deal with all the difficult situations that this beautiful stage in your life entails. We also take this opportunity to wish you a big good luck!
